Nah. It’s just that Pete posts about his SV as much as 15 people. :P

I owned an SV and used it as my primary mode of transport all through college. There was a pretty large community of SV riders even back then. My bike went from one friend to another after I sold it. Mine was bobbed and streetfightered out. My current bike is a ‘73 CL450 that I built up.

I don’t have one. But they tick all the boxes for my next two wheeled vehicle, so hopefully someday soon.

Reliability was one of the boxes.
(I know, the modern Triumphs are a different ballgame)

there are a few.
me (one 1st gen, two 2nd gen, one of which is GSX-R swapped suspension), redline (blue 2ng gen), decay (blue 2nd gen, also GSX-R swapped suspension), nonster (red 2nd gen), dynamic weight (unknown), Iheartmy365Khonda (blue first gen), there was at least ONE other blue first gen bike kicking around here somewhere.

Holy shit. I just don’t see why the huge popularity. It almost makes me want a Speed Triple, just to be different.
But they are slightly cheaper

because they work (I have 50K miles on mine. I did ONE valve check. they were in spec), they handle AMAZING (once the GSXR stuff is on it), its cheap, they look good, and the motor makes a great noise once you fit a can to it. not to mention they can handle pretty much whatever you can throw at them. commuting? no problem. touring? load ‘er up. track bike? there are spec series for them.
there really isnt anything this bike WONT do reasonably well. sure, there are faster, lighter, and higher HP bikes. but the price you pay in maintenance, price, sucking at something else (DDing a zx-10r is going to get real old for your back and wallet real quick) doesnt work out for it.
Decay had a CBR1000RR. came back to the SV. I have my BMW F800R. i’ll take the Sv 9/10 times. its just that great
